Intermittent Delight by Akosua Adoma Owusu Review
The film I chose to watch was Intermittent Delight by Akosua Adoma Owusu. From the begging I automatically noticed all of the the textures and colors they decided to use. It was very rich and deep tones with different textures divided into different boxes. As the film progresses it goes from one screen of multiple textures to a single texture per screen. Then it goes to show African women making these different textures by hand of all different colors. The next clip shows the texture the African women were working on being used by Caucasian women, there is even clips of the white women making their own fabric. The next clips are of white people dancing , then it shows the Africans dancing similarly. The film then ends with the same clip that was shown in the beginning.
I think this film was very interesting because there are so many meaning behind it I believe. The one that is most prominent to me is that African culture is used and stolen from so much but is never given to. This has been happening for years and is still happening today but it is rarely addressed. I believe that if we have to Africa and its culture as much as we have taken it would solve a lot of problems.
