Inspired by Hollywood cinema and Italian neorealism , new young film makers like Jean Luc Godard and Claude Chabrol emerged. A film that is most recognized as French new wave is breathless by Jean Luc Godard. In this film a thief stills a car , has a high speed chase with police , then murders a cop and is hiding out in his girlfriends apartment. The new wave experimented with little equipment and new ways to film scenes like long takes and jump cuts in the editing .
